The services I provide.

Custom HTML & Flash Web Design, Development

Web design and development are the primary services I provide. SEO is a part of every web project I become involved with and is a tool I utilize in a "best practice" approach to delivering a new site to the web.

  • Web Design

missionWeb "design" is the visual aspect of how your web site will look. Establishing the look, feel or vibe you wish to convey to your visitors is or should be just as important as how your web site functions to meet your requirements or needs.

Creating a web site that is visually compelling will often result in keeping your visitors attention and interest which in turn should ultimately yield the most conversions (sales) or attention your seeking. No matter what, the ultimate goal of a web site is to get the visitor to perform a task like purchasing a product, watching a video, playing a game, provide information, contact you or at the very least, share your web site with others.

  • Web Development

meWith rapidly growing smart phone usage around the world, more and more people are exploring the web with mobile devices like iphone's, ipad's, android's, blackberry's and so on. This is great! It means more and more people will be able to find you when their on the go. There's only one little draw back right now. Flash is not supported on all mobile devices. Well what I should say is, Apple's iphone, ipad and itouch devices do not support Flash.

However, all Android, Windows and Blackberries do support Flash. Why is this? What's wrong with Apple? Will Apple ever support Flash? Some say yes, Apple will have to give in to stay competitive in the market but others say no. HTML5 will replace Flash all together and Apple is banking on it. Only time will tell. Until the verdict comes in, you need to ask yourself one thing. Do you want your site to be seen on all desktop computers and mobile devices?

Some of my client's prefer Flash and are completely aware of the Apple mobile device limitation. For the most part their target market or audience is made up of people who will most likely use a desktop computer to view the web site. These client's are mostly artists. Other client's who need to be seen everywhere at anytime prefer to go with HTML as all desktop and mobile devices can deliver it.

What's the difference? Flash is animation based and strongly preferred by artist's. HTML is traditionally static (non-animation) based and used by almost everyone. When you look at my portfolio page, you will see that most of my project's are flash based as that was the code I specialized in when I first started in web design.

What this HTML5 I've been hearing about? Isn't it suppose to replace Flash? I'm currently working on a separate page to address the pro's and con's of both flash and HTML5.

  • SEO

seoWhat is SEO? SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. What's that? Ever used Google to search for something? Google is (among other things) a search engine. When you type in a keyword or phrase the result is a list of web sites that contain text, photos and or video's that relate to or match the word or phrase you entered.

SEO is a combination of coding key metadata (relevant keywords and description) into your site, linking to other sites and most importantly, delivering (posting/uploading) relevant content to your web page in an effort to gain better ranking in search engine results.

There's a lot of mystery surrounding SEO. This video by Cyrus Shepard of www.seomoz.org might give some insight to what all the confusion is about.

I'm currently using strategy two, the second example in the video. Can I deliver your web page at #1 ranking on Google searches? Yes and no. There are companies who provide nothing but SEO services and some of them are very expensive. Can they deliver your page at #1? I'm sure they can but the question is, how long will you stay at #1 and how much will it cost you?

The truth is, SEO really is a mystery to everyone outside the corporate halls of Google. SEO practices change all the time as Google evolves but there are some "best practices" I utilize with every web page I develop. I cover this topic more in the preparing page under the "content" section.
